I recently rode a CAT (Central Arizona Trials)  trials. they have a system to help motivate riders to check sections, this is the rule.

J.          For any rider, 15 years old or older to be championship eligible he/she must check in at least 50% of the events they ride during a season. At a buddy check trial, all competitors are considered as checkers.

and they keep track of it on the "Results and standings"

We have looked at a lot of rules over the years for this. We usually settle on trying to keep things simple and let people police themselves. We all know that scoring is part of the sport and that we need to score if we are going to ride. Most people view shirking this as pretty much cheating. I try to avoid making rules just to get one or two problem children in line.

Is there someone in particular that you notice not scoring that made you bring this up? Just about every lower class rider scores every event since there are so few of them so it could only be upper class that you are thinking of.

I have heard some grumbling in the last year or so about some of the uppers not pulling their weight. Some show up late and don't score while others always skip that particular form so they can go practice in the morning.

The only reason I brought this up is because, I think it’s a good idea well executed. I personally would like to see the “Days Checked” recorded and displayed somehow

I am not looking to start a new rule, I am just putting an idea out there. If its going to be a problem don’t worry about it, but if it is just a matter of plugging in a few numbers I would like to see the information?

Cat also are the same idiots that encouraged the upper class riders not to show up to score in the morning for a ten dollar penalty fee. Finally they realized that they had no scorers for the morning. Said rule changed by swapping upper and lower starting order. Chuck, Rob o` and I went to Arizona to ride. Chuck`s like, it`s cool to show up late at C.A.T. We showed up an hour after start time. Guess what? We lost an hour into our loop times. We did finish.
Right now we know the lower class scores at 95% of events. So that leaves the upper class. So Chris, either we need you to right a new program to track the scorers or re-write the program to track points. Either way that`s more work for the person already doing too much work. At the moment that is Al. By the way thanks Al for doing the points!

I think its a good idea, but if it is going to create a bunch more work or any problems don't worry about it

i remember seeing a ten dollar penalty for late registration, i thought that would help riders get there earlier.
